I originally went to school at Vancouver Institue of Media Arts for Traditional Animation (on paper!) with some extra instruction in Adobe Animate (well, it was still Flash at the time.) Trained in classic principles, and then learned to apply that to 2D modeled animation. After that, I learned Maya with Animation Mentor and then a lot of on-the-job time in my cinematics work- creating base poses for the animation teams to work from, or creating small animations to fill the gaps needed in interactive segments (think hand pose fixes.)
